Do you know what I do
when I’m home all alone?
I sing
like I’m in one of those smoky clubs,
like the ones with ‘cotton’ in their name.
I dance
like I have the rhythm
I should have been born with!
I smile
that cheezy smile
the kind that could only have come
from deep down within.
I write with the ease of
a Renaissance artist –
words flowing with every stroke.
Do you know what else I do
when I’m home all alone?
I wish
that you were here,
I yearn
for your arrival,
and I hope
that you will never, ever, leave.
